Cherry blossoms and flowers were in full bloom when the students at Doekin Elementary School did their Malama Honua project. Here, students share their appreciation for the beauty that nature provides their town. The students are also concerned about ensuring that food waste is disposed of properly and share their good habits in pictures.

I really love this project. The pictures and captions and short explanations are a great way to show what is happening and get the readers attention. I am also so impressed by what the kids did to help clan up and preserve the environment, and how they also encouraged others to do the same. This is a really great project and I am so happy that I got to see it.

It warms my heart to see young children being so enthusiastic about nature; and in my home country too! It is important for children to understand the value of nature, and although the value that they see in nature is mostly about aesthetic values, with their enthusiasm, I am sure they will be able to realize that nature is something much more; and hopefully become catalysts for positive change.

What a great initiative! With nature being destroyed all around us, it is important to foster the love for nature in the next generation. This must be done starting when they are young. I used to live in Korea, and it was shocking how nature is neglected, with trash being littered everywhere. Hopefully, your project will make Korea a better place! Just make sure that the students involved fully understand the importance and they are not forced, but encouraged, to carry out the project.

Wonderful seeing the student’s own initiatives towards taking care of their community. It teaches a good lesson that we can all do things, big or small, that positively impact our communities.

I believe this is a powerful project because it shows how kids improve their own enviroment in which they live their daily life, how it affects other people directly as they see the positive actions of the school kids and how it affects the kids themselves as it sets a positive tone and attitude that is appreciated till old age.

Kids always the one who could impact older age. This initiative is quite interesting to attract my mind to love nature because of those cute kids. However, to stop littering, this might require different mechanism between developed and developing country to follow. I respect this project team’s ideas. And I also love watching cherry blossom. I thus love nature. 🙂
